The first thing everyone will recommend when you want to work on your own bike is to buy a Factory Service Manual. I agree, the factory service manual is a great reference source for working on you own bike. Depending on your bike, and the motor options you will be able to to a lot of your own work on your scotter, the fifty dollars you spend on your manual will be repaid in the frist oil change savings.

Beside getting a factory service manaul from Harley Davidson, a book like this is also a good addition to your workshop. You have a second reference for working on the more detailed parts and service jobs on your bike.
